Athens, Page 3 ..

We began our fourth day in Athens with a visit to the Goulandris Museum of Cycladic Art. We forgot to follow the advice we give .. check to make sure the museum is open. It wasn't. So, it was off to the nearby War Museum. Which was.

There were several airplanes parked outside. among them a stubby-winged F-104 .. once the hottest fighter in the world .. and a T-6 trainer from the days before World War II. Both "Made in America." Both finished flying forever.

As is this 1912 one-of-a-kind, which these Greeks actually flew in combat ..

I got inside long enough to admire the lobby, and their version of Poseidon. And to take a quick tour of an extensive collection of ancient daggers, pistols, muskets and the like. I've got that sort of stuff at home, and so we were off for new adventures.
