Mykonos, Page 2 ..

Tuesday ..

Speaking of sunsets, Mykonos has no volcano, but it’s where we first discovered the special quality the sea and the light give Greek island sunsets. This, from our room, Monday evening ..

The Poseidon Hotel has changed dramatically since we first stayed here. Then we had a small, spare room, simple but lovely, which cost $14 a day. Today the hotel is greatly expanded, with a pool and gorgeous landscaping, and our room .. wow!  Yet, it remains true to it’s character as a Greek island establishment. With all of the new amenities, and even a queen-size bed, the cost is less than a weekend room with bayou view in Houston. The gracious hospitality never changes, and it’s free. So is that view of the Agean Sea. A lovely bouquet of fresh flowers awaited us.

We stuff at the bountiful buffet breakfast.

Maria, Niko’s daughter helps her brother Ted manage the hotel.

After breakfast this morning, we wandered about, spotting familiar as well as new sights.

The windmills still stand above the town.

The winding streets were laid out in a tangled maze to confuse the pirates who used to raid the island.

For a change, I did some shopping today. Some buying, too. That's tomorrow, along with a reunion, of sorts, with Petros the Pelican.

On to Wednesday
